Director-Prof. Ddumba
Ssentamu:
Professor
Ddumba-Ssentamu has taught at Makerere University since 1977. He
holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) Degree of Makerere University,
a Master of Arts (Economics) Degree of the University of Water Loo,
Ontario, Canada as well as a Doctor
of philosophy (Economics) Degree of Makerere University. His
Doctoral Thesis is titled: “The
Role of Commercial Banks in Deposit Mobilisation in Uganda.”
He teaches:
Policy Analysis, Design and Evaluation; Monetary
Economics; Microeconomics for Policy Management and Managerial
Economics to Masters students as well as Microeconomics and Monetary
Economics to Doctoral students, in addition to Intermediate
Microeconomics that he teaches to undergraduates.
He has consulted
for various local and international organizations that include but
are not limited to:
African Capacity Building Foundation; Deloitte & Touche; United
Nations Development Programme, World Health Organization; Swedish
Government; Uganda Investment Authority; Food and Agriculture
Organization; International Labour Organization; World Food
Programme; USAID; and the World Bank.
Prof. Ddumba has
published in various local and international journals including:
African
Review of Money,
Finance and Banking; African Journal of Economic Policy;
SCARCITY and MAWAZO Journal.
He is the current Dean
of the Faculty of Economics and Management. Additionally, he is the
Chairman, Board of Directors of the Centenary Bank as well as the
academic Board of the regional Collaborative Master of Arts
(Economics) Program facilitated by the African Economic Research
Consortium.
